How to Use the Tool
Step 1: Upload

Review the image for missed fields (sidebar emails, URL bars, notification text). Click "Download Redacted Image." The output is flattened: the black bars and blur are baked into the pixel data and cannot be undone.

Tips for Effective Redaction
Redact Context Too
Black bars over a field labeled "State" still leak data if a ZIP code "90210" is visible below it. Redact the label as well when the surrounding text narrows down the hidden value.
Avoid Swirl and Pixelation
Light pixelation and swirl effects have been reversed by AI-based depixelation tools. A 2023 paper by TU Darmstadt demonstrated successful reconstruction of pixelated faces. Stick to heavy Gaussian blur or, preferably, solid redaction. Solid colors are mathematically a single value per channel, so there is no underlying data to recover.
Delete the Original
The original screenshot still exists in your Downloads folder or clipboard after export. Delete it once the redacted copy is verified.

Yes. On export, the image is flattened. The sensitive pixels are overwritten with the blur or blackout value. There is no "undo" layer in the output file.

No. Processing is client-side only. The image is not transmitted to any server.
